Superficial Malays

We are superficial people. Its the truth. Do not deny it. Denial is also part of being superficial. We accept what truth we want, and reject the whole truth, mostly because the truth will not be good for us. And so, we become superficial.

I have stayed away from blogging, because the blogosphere is now a war zone. It is becoming depressing everyday to read posts online, knowing I would know something more wrong about my country. But I am biting the bullet each day reading about corruption and the misguided malays doing very stupid things. I point my finger to the Malays because the Malays are the top political icons, the Malays are the top justice and police men, the Malays are the people who do all the wrong stuff because we think we're invincible, and the Malays are you and me who think that we descend from heaven or our blood is gold and others are just cheap dirt.

There is nothing special about the Malays, except that unlike most people of other ethnic descent, the Malays think they are special. I wonder sometimes if we are heading towards the ancient India class system of pariahs and brahmins. We have this notion that we rightly own the land and others are trespassing on it. We think we hold the ultimate right to everything, and what ever we give back is a gift of sorts instead of 'equal opportunities'. Oh my fellow Malays, WE ARE WRONG!!!

We are humans, flesh and bone, no different than our brothers of other ethnicity. We are all sons and daughters of Adam and Eve, spread all over this world to uphold HIS wisdom. We were lent this short period of time to spend on this earth, to live our lives in peace and no discrimination. I am no better than you and you are no better than the person sitting behind you or next to you. We are the same, and what makes us different is the virtues we live by in.

We cannot go on like this forever, being discriminative to other people. Why stop discussions and barring people from going to Universities? My stand is clear, we SHOULD encourage more discussions and dialogue, we should reach out to people who needed voice speak for and ears to listen to them. We should tear down the chains that hold our precious institutions from declining by giving 100% entry by merit to all aspiring students. Let our students challenge each other in schools to achieve more and gain entry to the ivory towers, and let them feel the satisfaction of turning perspiration to inspiration. Let them know that hard work has its glory and glory is not determined by which race you are borne into.

But I am wrong now. Malays are special because we have the power to demand change. We have the strength to say, "ENOUGH IS ENOUGH". We have the power to say, "I WANT THIS COUNTRY TO BE FREE, AND WE ARE ALL BROTHERS AND SISTERS OF THE SAME FATHER, ADAM". We can say that we don't need privileges, we can survive without assistance and benefits that cripple our minds, and we will succeed with our own determination and persistence.

Alas, the power is there, the only thing left is for YOU AND ME to use it.
